Sydney weddings – 16 Strings String Quartet – Corporate entertainment
We have a core team of eight musicians in 16 Strings String Quartet Sydney. By having a team of eight it allows us to have to two groups servicing the large city of Sydney. Every one of our musicians have been handpicked and play together on a regular basis to bring the beautiful 16 Strings sound to your event.
|Annabelle Breyley-Smith, violin
Annabelle Breyley-Smith violinist from Newcastle who has been playing since the age of five. She recently moved to Sydney and enjoys playing in quartets and has extensive experience in playing with both symphony and string orchestras such as the Sydney Youth Orchestra, the Christ Church Camerata, the Australian Youth Orchestra and the Lake Macquarie Philharmonic Orchestra. She has completed her AMus.A and will continue her studies of the violin with the aspirations of becoming a professional orchestral violinist.
|Hannah Duque, violin
A keen violin player since she was 3, Hannah has enjoyed playing for a large number of groups including the Christ Church Camerata, Hunter Strings Soloists and the Newcastle Youth Orchestra. She regularly performs at Sydney Weddings, functions, concerts and in competitions, and loves playing the wide scope of music involved. She moved to Sydney in 2016 but has been part of our 16 Strings family for a number of years as she was a musician in our Newcastle group. Hannah completed her AmusA in violin in 2015.
|Marlon Schroeder, viola
Marlon started playing viola at a very young age. From the moment he picked up the instrument he knew the viola was the stringed instrument for him. To be trusted with the opportunity to play at people’s wedding is such an honour and he joined the team because he could see how 16 Strings was a quality string quartet that could provide a positive and active role to further his skills as a violist. Marlon also performs in local Orchestras and has been part of several string quartets over the years.
|Hayon Lee, cello
Hayon is a cellist from New Zealand who first picked up the cello at age four. She enjoys playing both as a soloist and with groups and has had experience performing around Europe with the Auckland Youth Orchestra, the Sydney University Symphony Orchestra and various chamber ensembles. She has a particular passion for chamber music having played in a wide variety of groups from trios to quintets. She has completed her ATCL Trinity Performance Diploma. While she has mainly played classical repertoire, she enjoys the wide range of contemporary pieces.
|Alex Vickery, violin
Originally hailing from Perth, Alex Vickery spent his school days studying violin under the tutelage of Bao Di Tang, culminating in a Licentiate in Music Australia (LmusA) at age 16. After touring nationally with the Australian Youth Orchestra and internationally with contemporary Australian bands, Alex went on to complete a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts at the University in Western Australia. Since moving to Sydney to further his career, he has played as concertmaster of the Australian Lawyers Orchestra, as a fiddle player for Courtney Conway at Tamworth Country Music Festival, and most recently as first violinist with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. Alex fosters equal affection for both weddings and chamber music, and loves adding a special touch to ceremonies, particularly with specific song requests!
|Ian Colley, violin/viola
While learning music on violin, in recent years has split his time between violin and viola. Ian has a B.A in Music but is also currently doing his PhD in neuroscience (studying music and the brain). Ian loves that he has been giving the opportunity to play in an ensemble that meets regularly and is open-minded about repertoire. He was Concertmaster of the Bucknell University when living in the U.S.A and since moving to Sydney has preformed with the The Metropolitan Orchestra, Willoughby Symphony and The Bourbaki Ensemble as well as various weddings, events and independent projects around the city.
|Alfred Yu, violin/viola
With over 15 years of playing the violin and the viola, Alfred has performed in numerous competitions, weddings and various events. He had served as the concertmaster at Macquarie University Symphony Orchestra, and now the principle violist at the Ryde Hunters Hill Symphony Orchestra. With his passion and experience, Alfred wish to bring joys of music to others life as a part of the 16 Strings. Alfred was awarded The LTCL Violin Recital with Distinction in 2013.
|Laura Peisley, cello
Laura is a passionate cellist who has been playing most of her life. She moved to Sydney to further her musical career. In Perth graduated from UWA with a BMus, BA and DipEd. She has always enjoyed playing with others in a range of settings from small ensembles to larger orchestras and has extensive performance experience. Laura has regularly performed at weddings and events and is excited for the opportunity to continue do so with the 16 Strings family.
