Jai Schelbach - Violin / Viola

Jai (violin) is the Director of Strings for Hillcrest Christian College Gold Coast. He moved to the land of surf and sun after completing his Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Education at the University of New South Wales. His performance experience includes playing for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Propeller Fashion Show, Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra, Mercy Ministry Gala Ball and various wedding functions in both Sydney and the Gold Coast. Jai is currently completing his Masters of Music at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. As the Director of 16 Strings String Quartet he is excited to be a part of a string quartet that offers a fresh, elegant and exciting sound.

Aya Shimizu - Violin

Aya Shimizu (violin) is the second violinist in the string quartet. She is currently working towards the completion of her AmusA Diploma in the violin and always displays a high level of excellence and diligence as a musician and performer. Aya plays with the Queensland Youth Symphony Orchestra and also teaches the violin in her spare time. Her goal is to train up a new generation of violinists that play with passion and distinction.

Catherine Espirtu - Viola / Violin

Catherine Espirtu (viola) is a key member of 16 Strings String Quartet. Having played the violin for a number of years, she recently picked up the viola, and within six months was the principle viola player for the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra. The dux of her school, Catherine currently teaches a number of students in violin. Dedicated and highly committed to her craft, she is the consummate professional for any string quartet performance.

Danica Inglis - Double Bass

Danica (double bass) is a key member of 16 Strings String Quartet giving the quartet a unique and rich sound on her double bass. Danica's performance experience includes various school musicals and the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra. She’s passionate about music and loves providing a beautiful deep rich sound to the string quartet.
