Your Online Wedding Planner Checklist

Twelve-Nine Months Before

  • Decide the date and time of your wedding
  • Draw up a draft guest list
  • Draw up a guest list for the engagement party
  • Announce your engagement party to your family and friends
  • Book in the engagement party and send out the invitations
  • Decide on the size, style and budget of your wedding
  • Are you requiring a wedding planner – make enquires and book them in
  • Start thinking about your wedding dress, look at all the different styles and decide what you would like. Make sure you give enough time to order the dress in when you find the perfect one.
  • Look for your ceremony location and make a booking and pay the deposit

  • Book in your videographer
  • Book in your wedding cars

Six Months Before

  • Go bridesmaid dress shopping
  • Book in your honeymoon
  • Book in your bridal suite for the wedding night
  • Book in your music/band/entertainment for both the ceremony and reception
  • Choose a gift registry (if you’re using one)
  • Choose your wedding cake and order it
  • Inform your out of town guests of your wedding day
  • Start thinking about your invitations – will you be hiring a professional?
  • Organise your passports, birth certificates, visas.

Four Months Before

  • Finalise your guest list
  • Finalise your reception details
  • Order your invitations and any other stationary
  • Choose and order your wedding rings
  • Confirm reception venue and select the menu
  • Book your hairdresser and book in for a trial and the wedding day. You will need to be in yourself, all female bridal party members including the mothers. You will only need to trial yourself but check with your hairdresser. Make sure you take your hair piece &/or veil.

  • Select your gifts for the bridal party

Three Months Before

  • Send out the invitations and gift list
  • Book or purchase groom’s and groomsmen’s suits
  • Make appointments with your hairdresser and beautician
  • Organise with your decoration and theme for your ceremony or reception. Keep in mind what items are not included in your venue bookings (eg. Red carpet, chair covers, music, decorations)
  • Decide what bombenieres you would like to make or order them
  • Ask your special guests who will be taking part in the ceremony (eg.Readings, singing)
  • Choose a MC – this could be a guest or a professional
  • Finalise your music for the day. Keep in mide you will need to pick music for pre ceremony, processional (walking down the aisle), signing of the register, recessional (exiting), the bridal waltz, cutting of the cake and any other music entertainment you require.
  • Buy your wedding shoes and bridal accessories

Six Weeks Before

  • Write your vows
  • Write your ceremony program
  • Have your final gown fitting and confirm when the dress is to be picked up
  • Shop for lingerie and clothes for the honeymoon

One Month Before

  • Confirm honeymoon reservations and pick up airline tickets
  • Work out your reception seating plan and advise reception venue
  • Time the journey from home to the ceremony venue
  • Arrange your hen’s night &/or kitchen tea with your bridesmaid
  • Start wearing in your wedding shoes around the house – save your feet on the day.

One Week To Go

  • Have the wedding rehearsal
  • Practice your wedding vows
  • Pack for your honeymoon
  • Throw a party for the bridesmaids
  • Prepare your speech
  • Check all final details for your reception
  • Arrange for someone to ensure your wedding clothes get sent home, hired items are returned, wedding cake is sent to those who could not come and gifts are taken home safely
  • Take some time out for yourself – have a massage or facial, go to a health spa or away overnight with a friend
